Locution Systems, Inc. Announces New, High-performance Alpha Pager Alerting Capability

New pager alerting component complements existing dispatching/station alerting product line; pager alerting system adheres to current alpha paging protocols

GOLDEN, Colo., August 16, 2004 – Locution Systems, Inc., a provider of new-generation, automated public safety dispatching and fire station alerting technology, today introduced Locution PagerAlert, a new pager alerting system that allows emergency incident dispatches to be sent to public safety personnel via their alphanumeric pagers. Locution PagerAlert adheres to current alpha numeric paging protocols, including TAP (Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol, also known as iXO), SMS (Simple Messaging System) and SNPP (Simple Network Paging Protocol). Because of its open-platform design, PagerAlert will be able to easily migrate to new alpha paging standards as they evolve.

Locution Systems’ PagerAlert is designed to support high-volume, high-performance paging for busy communications centers. Specific paging speed is dictated by the paging hardware and protocol being used by a given public safety department.

PagerAlert quite literally rounds out the company’s existing product suite, according to Glenn Neal, Locutions Systems president, founder and chief technology officer. “Our CADVoice® product line plus PagerAlert and the recently introduced EmailAlert equate to the most comprehensive line-up of public safety alerting options from one company,” he said.

Specifically, Locution PagerAlert takes the same dispatch coming in from standard computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, and routes it through the Locution Systems server. Once the message hits the Locution Systems server (typically located in a communications or dispatch center), the message automatically is translated to an alphanumeric page, which can be relayed via one of three standard alphanumeric paging data protocols.

Locution PagerAlert can be configured to interface directly to a TAP interface card, or can be configured to use a dial-up TAP provider as well. For the SNPP protocol, information from PagerAlert is sent via an IP network and, for SMS, via a cellular network. Typical routing of information from the Locution server for all interfaces is less than one second.

Locution PagerAlert available immediately

Locution PagerAlert is available immediately, and is priced at $12,500.
