GOLDEN, Colo., July 26, 2006 – Locution Systems, Inc., a provider of advanced, automated public safety dispatching and fire station control technology, today announced that it has been commissioned to provide its automated dispatching and fire station alerting system to the city of Edmonton, Canada. Edmonton is the first Canadian city to install Locution Systems’ public safety alerting system, which already is installed in many small, medium and large cities and counties throughout the United States. Specifically, Locution Systems will install its flagship product, CADVoice® Fire Station, along with the radio dispatch version of CADVoice®, in Edmonton.

The dispatching portion of the CADVoice® system automatically creates and sends a clear, accent-neutral dispatch announcement about a fire or medical emergency to designated Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical stations and/or rescue units in the field. This announcement is created at the point when 911 dispatchers “commit” the incident – which occurs after they have reviewed and approved the emergency information generated by the emergency communications center’s Computer-aided Dispatch (CAD) system. This automated dispatch (assembled by the computer) then is sent to the designated fire stations that will respond to the fire, accident, or medical emergency.

Simultaneous with the CADVoice® dispatch announcement at the designated fire station, the system then automatically activates alarms and displays status information on display devices in the fire station, indicating which rescue units need to respond to the emergency. In addition, the system can automatically activate garage bay doors, visual indicators such as light bars and LED reader boards, and appliances such as stoves.

“One of the key benefits of our automated dispatching and alerting system is that it both alerts rescue crews with lights and display equipment and provides a fully automated, natural-sounding dispatch created from a pre-recorded human voice,” noted Glenn C. These functions can significantly improve response times.”

An additional radio version of CADVoice® will be implemented and provide an additional means for Edmonton Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical Services crews to be alerted over their radio system.
