Locution Systems, Inc. Announces New Email Capability For Its Automated Dispatching & Fire Station Alerting System
New-generation dispatching/alerting technology now can email non-emergency public safety personnel as part of automated dispatching
GOLDEN, Colo. & TAMPA, Fla., June 13, 2004 – Locution Systems, Inc., a provider of new-generation, automated public safety dispatching and fire station alerting technology, today introduced Locution EmailAlert: email alerting to non-emergency personnel as part of its automated dispatching and alerting system. EmailAlert runs in conjunction with Locution Systems’ CADVoice ® products, including the flagship product for communications center dispatching and fire station alerting, and the mobile and radio versions of the products for fire fighters and emergency medical technicians working in the field.
Specifically, EmailAlert takes the same dispatch coming in from standard computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, which then route to the Locution Systems server. Once the message hits the Locution Systems server (typically located in a communications or dispatch center), the message automatically is translated to a natural voice dispatch to fire stations, and also can be relayed via email to non-emergency personnel who need to know about specific, high-profile incidents.
\“There are certain types of incidents and certain locations that require the notification of more than fire fighters and emergency medical personnel. In those instances, email messages that route to email boxes, cell phones or pagers offer a quick efficient way to alert non-emergency personnel – without any additional effort or time by communications center dispatchers,” explained Glenn Neal, president and founder of Locution Systems, Inc.
“In the event of an emergency at high-profile facilities such as airports, nuclear plants, water treatment facilities, or public buildings, up to 50 different non-emergency personnel may need to be briefed,” continued Neal. “In the event of this scenario occurring, EmailAlert automates the alerting process to these non-emergency individuals, and allows dispatchers to continue to focus on alerting emergency personnel.”
“The addition of email alerting capabilities makes the Locution Systems public safety dispatch and fire station alerting technology the most comprehensive solution on the market today,” said Neal.
New email alerting system from Locution Systems routes to email boxes, cell phones or pagers
EmailAlert requires no additional or customized configurations. It can simply run on the Locution Systems server, and provide another level of alerting. In addition, some email alert systems have extremely limited options for how many emails can be sent. Locution Systems’ EmailAlert can send up to 1,000 emails, as part of the new alerting system option, and more than 1,000 can be configured if necessary.
The amount of dispatch routing options available for EmailAlert depends on a public safety department’s technology infrastructure. Message routing by email to an email box is the first-line, basic option, and simply requires access to an SMTP (simplified mail transfer protocol) server, either internally or through an ISP (internet service provider). Beyond that, public safety departments that also have some type of gateway or bridge between email and cell phones or pager systems also can route dispatches to email-enabled cell phones or pagers of non-emergency personnel.
EmailAlert available immediately
EmailAlert is available immediately, and is priced at $4,500.
